Switching Between SSL and Non SSL

I was wondering if someone could help me switch between SSL and non SSL, once someone is using SSL for something that needs to be secure and then transferring to something that is non secure, i would like it to switch.

The problem I am facing is in IE when someone has an SSL secure page, but it has links that are none ssl, it popups a dialogue box, how can I avoid this issue. I do not want my customers to think its not secure, but if I put all the links SSL then the page loads slow for a none SSL needed page.
