Loading JavaScript before page loading?

I have one JavaScript code that I put in external file for faster page loading. I call it on page with

<span id="addBookmarkContainer"></span>.

Problem is that even though that external file is cached by browser, link that show be shown (as a result of javascript) isn't shown until full page is loaded.

Is there way to load that javascript even if page is not loaded?

OK, the external script tag must look something like so:

<script src="bookmark.js" type="text/javascript">

</script>

And I see by the code you published that this:

dss_addEvent(window,'load',addBookmarkObj.addTextLink);

initializes it onload.

In a case like this, that's most often done because the the script is or may be associated with the page before:

<span id="addBookmarkContainer"></span>.

has been parsed by the browser.

Now, you should be able to change:

dss_addEvent(window,'load',addBookmarkObj.addTextLink);

to:

addBookmarkObj.addTextLink();

But if you do that, this:

<script src="bookmark.js" type="text/javascript">

</script>

must come after this:

<span id="addBookmarkContainer"></span>.
