    Unhappy Lesson Learnt

    Hi

I have learnt a valuble lesson in basic web design, i am very new to web design and i am learning as i go along as an hobby on a self taught basis.

The lesson i have now learnt is to preview the site as i am building it in different browsers, i was just previewing in IE and when i had completed the site i asked a friend to look at it, he was using Firefox and the content was all over the place. It took me hours of more work to rectify the problems

    My question is this,

What is the best browser to use to preview the site as i am building it, is there a browser i can use that i know will be suitable for all other browsers or do i have to keep viewing it in all browsers until i get it right

    Thanks Guys

Personally I just preview it in firefox as I'm going along, adding menus etc, but after I've done a chunk, I'll go and check it in other browers like opera and IE, it's pretty much 99.99% of the time going to be a problem with IE but it's things like menus being in slightly the wrong place and other random things that IE likes to just put on your page for no reason.

Just test as you go but once you've finished a menu or a page, check it in other browers! Then go back and rectify the problems.

Edit: You can also go to browsershots.org to test it in pretty much every combination of browser / OS you can think of.

You can try a site like browsershots.org. Also be careful for different screen sizes. Keep learning!
