scrolling multi frame slide show with text and links!

I'd really like to be able to use a scrolling slide show feature similar to that on
http://www.independent.co.uk/
under the "don't miss" heading. They've got the content and image locations written straightforwardly in html not script, and it's obviously javascript that's making it move but I've no idea how...!

The slideshows I've found here so far all seem to have the image defined within the script, so presumably wouldn't be so search engine friendly?

found the dynamic variations which seem to do what I want (except the multi frame section) - that part is fixed but have a couple of queries see
