    What does "easy" even mean in this sense? Are we talking less features, more intuitive user interface?

    As John said, it's a process of learning. Photoshop, once learned, isn't particularly "hard".

    The original goal was to find an "easy" program to learn, but keep all the power of photoshop (or at least the needed power).
    And, yeah, that's the answer-- they're all easy once you learn how to use them, but can take some time. So "easier" programs are of course quicker to learn, but not as powerful to use, and it's a tradeoff.
