IE not responding to positioning....

i want to set a div on the page at fixed positioning.... so i used the property position:fixed for that div... it remains fixed on scrolling ,as i want, on firefox and on opera... but its not fixed on IE...it places that div on the bottom of the page.. plz give me ur valueable guidence...
