unwanted space occurs when option opens a menu

For three-deep nesting, the third menu causes the height of the menu
option to increase when the link opens a menu.

If I could send an image it would make it clearer.

The same behaviour is slightly visible in the demo where a tiny amount of white space shows when the link opens a menu eg 3a

Hmm in what browser, and by increase in height, do you mean the 3rd level sub menu itself when that is revealed? A screenshot would help.

If you hover over menu option "Iitem 4a" you will notice some white space above

Hovering over option eg "Item 2a" doesn't have the same white space.

In version 1.31 of the menu (which we were using) the issue was more significant.
In version 2.1 it is barely noticeable, and by changing the background colour white to match the yellow it is even less noticable.
