    Default site address icon

Can anyone tell me how to add an image to my website so that it will show beside the http://www.address? I see that there is one on the DD site.I think that this is a neat feature, especially if someone bookmarks the site, as it appears on their bookmarks list. Thanks for any help!

It is called a favicon. You can create one using this link. http://www.dynamicdrive.com/favicon/

THANKS! I have made the favicon & put on my site -- so far it is only showing up on Navigator, not Explorer or Safari browser. It is a neat little touch to website.

Internet Explorer has a tendency to ignore favicons. No real idea why, but they seem to appear after a long period of browsing.

If you open your web page and take your address on the top of the window and pull it into the address bar 2 or 3 times in ie the favicon will show up.

    Default favicon

I tried the dragging, but it didn’t seem to help. My icon shows up in Netscape (but not on the index page for some reason it does if I go back to the index page from another page in my site) but still does not show in Explorer or Safari. I am using Dreamweaver MX. I have tried adding a favicon to another site & it is the same story. I wonder if there might be a conflict with some of the other scripts on my pages?
Anyone interested in taking a look http://www.rvrg.com

I have the same problem. my favicon does not show up...ever! I mean..well... rarely!
I have used 2 methods... assigning an icon to a page and using favicon.
both don't work often in IE. :\
what can I do? which one of the 2 above methods is the best?

The best method I found was to uninstall IE and put FireFox as my default browser.
    I've never looked back...

    - no adverts on webpages with Adblock Extension
    - tabbed browsing

    and NO favicon problems!

I am not sure how re-installing Explorer would help as the favicon does not show up on my website but other site favicons (including DD) do show. I have also tried installing the script on each individual page. I have checked my remote files & the favicon is there in the .http files & have also found it by URL as in the DD installation instructions. I have been looking at the code on sites with a displaying favicon, see that the same script as I am using is there...but their favicons show!
