transparents images...

i want to set some transparent images on my web document...plz tell me in whic software i can make images transparent... in adobe when i save pictures it gives white color instead of transparency....

Adobe what? Adobe makes a great many programs. Anyways, I have little experience with Adobe image editors, etc. Most advanced image editors have an option in the export dialogue, that's when exporting the image rather than doing an ordinary save, to make regions transparent based upon various optional criteria. You must export as either gif or png for this to work for the web.

Programs I know of that can do this in at least some manner are:

The Gimp
Photoshop
Paint Shop Pro

If you are using one of them, and still have problems, consult their help sections for info on transparent.

If you're using photoshop, make sure that your image is on one layer and you have a transparent layer below it.

Hit "Save As" or "Save As Copy" and select .PNG for the file type.

This will save your image with a transparent background that will work with any browser.

.GIF will work also, but .PNG holds quality much better.

In PHOTOSHOP, double-click Background layer in Layers panel and change layer name to something else before deleting areas to be transparent. (Deleting portions of "Background" layer fills deleted areas with color of bottom chip in Toolbox.) For File>Save As>CompuServe GIF, the default Options Matte=NONE is pretty obvious. But if you use File>Save for Web and Devices, be sure to change Matte to NONE from pop-up menu (default white colored Matte box is easy to overlook).

Seeing at lot of TRANSPARENCY discussion (e.g., interesting PNG info) makes me want to add a bit about Photoshop transparency for someone like "gurmeet" who might be a novice.

"Transparency grid" shows through areas of Photoshop file that do not contain opaque colored pixels (or are not obstructed by opaque pixels in other layers). When you create new file, "Background Contents" pop-up defaults to "White/" Other choices are "Background Color" (bottommost color chip in Tool box) or "Transparent." If you choose "Transparent," file opens with "Layer 1" in layers panel and transparent grid shows in document window. If you choose either "White" or "Background Color,"file opens with "Background" layer in layers palette and opaque document window.

As noted above, change name of "Background" layer if you want transparency because deleting portions of "Background" layer fills deleted areas with color of bottom chip in Toolbox (Alt/Option + delete fills area with color of top chip)..

New layers are transparent.

Also Layer> FLATTEN IMAGE or File> Save as =JPEG fills transparent areas with white, making such areas opaque. Saving file in PSD, TIFF, GIF or PNC format retains transparency.

With File>Save As = CompuServe GIF, multiple layers are not retained (have only "Index" layer); File>Save As = PNG also has one "layer 0" only. Photoshop File>Save for Web and Devices uses multiple layers' animation, but file is flattened into one "Index" layer if reopened in Photoshop. Before CS3, had to re-open animated GIFs with ImageReady to access layers' animation. I do not know how Fireworks or other software handles GIF or PNG multiple layers.

The GNU Image Manipulation Program is great for transparency, just go to Layer > Transparency > Add Alpha Chanel. Simple.
