i've implemented this slashdot menu successfully here: http://www.redkids.co.nz/things/exp/index.php

the problem we are experiencing is that when a menu is expanded and you go to a new page, the expanded state persists [which we want] but we get a 'jump' when the new page loads. the menu displays in it's closed state then pops open, which looks messy.

is there a way to prevent this from happening? i realise this is probably related to the sliding action but i don't really know whether it's avoidable.
