Specific Java Tutorial?

Hi,

I am looking for a specific Java Book/Tutorial for a project of mine, and I'm not sure what to focus on. The project will be sort of a character creation, eg: the user selects height, skin color, and hair, then uploads some pictures to complete the character. Then the character would be placed in a premade movie, which can be exported.

Since I know there probably isn't going to be an exact tutorial or book for this, something that points me into the right direction would be enough.

PS. Cost doesn't matter, as I have a book budget of $500.
PSS. Please don't tell me that java isn't the right language, and that I should focus on some other language.
