Computer won't start

Hello,

It's very strange, but my laptop computer just doesn't start anymore.

When I press the start button, I hear the sound of the hard drive trying to boot fot two seconds, but then it stops.
there is absolutely nothing on the screen, it just remains black.

I always use it with AC adapter plugged in and the batteries are full.

So I wonder where I should start the investigations from.

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

The first place I would start would be to see if the power supply has fried., I have not taken a labtop apart before, I only work on PC's but the princable should be the same just on a lot smaller scale. You might also want to check if the processor has become damaged. There are many things that could be your problem though. Another possiblity is that you have mainboard damage from a power surge. But really start with the power supply then work your way from there. Do you even get the P.O.S.T.? (Power On Self Test) on your screen?

I believe is a hard disk problem..if the HDD starts it cant be the power supply right?

I agree with Alex. (And welcome!) Most laptops have removable hard drives. You might be able to remove the hard drive an plug it into a tower. If the hard drive works, back it up and start tweaking. If you can get into it, check the BIOS. Sometimes a dead CMOS battery will temporarily do your system in - check the date in the settings.
