I have recently upgraded to a new Debian 4 Etch based server.
When I try to install the php5-mysqli package via the command line

apt-get install php5-mysqli
I receive and error that the package is not available. So I searched on google, and I came across a bug report thread dating back to 2006 that states the maintainer added the package to the list.

Not sure if anyone else has come across this, and would appreciate any help in finding a way to compile the package.
