Default help with chrome over effect

hi there, i was interested to create a shine effect

any tutorials on how to do that? does it involve layer masks? i know that its a basic flash button.

my understanding: a tween moving a gradient white block over the masked part of the logo, but i can never get it right

but no idea where to start... any help or links? i essentialy want to do it to this logo:

thanks in advanced! btw, im new here so hello everyone! please advise me if i break any forum rules.

    Welcome to DD!

There are many ways to do this. Masks and tweens are one way. It would help to know which version of Flash you are using.

To start, here is a basic tutorial on a shine effect. This will give you an idea of what to do.

When I know your Flash version I can pinpoint a better tutorial for you (or write one myself)

Update. I created one of my own. You can either use it, or pull it apart and see how I did it. Simple time line tween with several hotspots. (sorry Medy)

    Enjoy!

    Looks good!

One of the cool things about logo "shine" or "glint" is you can use ANY color. I like the "hot spot" approach as I showed in the one I posted above) as it gives it more of a direction, and you can really have fun with guiding the shine over certain letters to make any logo or text look 3D
