Heh.
It's a classic UNIX text editor. The modern version is Vim (Vi IMproved), which comes with most UNIX-based OSes (Linux, BSD, &c). There's been what amounts to practically a crusade between Vi and emacs since something like the year dot.
There's a Windows emacs FAQ here, and there's a Windows version of Vim on the Vim page.

Thanks, but this is another question... php4 is a rival.. So is it better to use that or vim, i have both.. =) just wondering
