    Default How to tell Google I'm in the UK?

    I have recently designed a website for a friend who is based in the UK for her Russian translation and interpreting services. Because some of her translation business in international I registered her with a .com rather than .co.uk address (www.elenadearden.com).

    However, I now discover that google does not recognise it as a UK website. Will it help if I add
    HTML Code:
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="EN-GB">
    ? Is there anything else I can do to help identify it as a UK site?

    Does the fact that it is registered and hosted by a New Zealand company (www.nzwebit.com) make any difference?

    Default google and the UK

    To get Google to see this page as a UK page, you have to submit it to Google UK.

    This hosting company does not make a difference. But I would advise a better company. NZwebit has a reputation for being the worst.

    No. At the very least, Content-Language is a HTTP header, and should be part of the headers in a response. Using the http-equiv attribute should always be replaced by proper headers. Besides, why couldn't a UK site be written in a language other than British English?

    Is there anything else I can do to help identify it as a UK site?
    Why don't you ask Google directly? There are support groups for developers.

    Hello,

    The solution for your pronlem is SEO you have to submit to various websites with the main focus on UK websites or directories. also try to link your website with the keyword UK.

    One more option for you will be to get the same domain with .co.uk and park it over this domain. I am not sure if this will help but your beat shot right now is proper SEO.

    Are you allowed to recommend another webhost or would that be against forum rules? Where can I find good info about different webhosts?

    Thanks
