    1. Boredom, experience, occasionally it pays
    2. Not yet, I have webspace but just do other people's; I lack the imagination to do my own
    3. Nope
    4. Java. Javascript? Pah - watered-down Java! Java's simple, terse, and powerful - if only it was a little faster...

    1. Because it is there;
    2. I don't know how many of us have web sites (there is at least one web site in everyone),
      I have two and master two others, am working on another as we type;
    3. Not hiding, not aggressively promoting them either;
    4. I like French, I don't understand it but, it sounds so cool;

    Me. I have five of them.

    3.How many are hiding them?
    Not me.

    4.What is the most preferred language among all of us?

    Let's get that poll looking good. There are a lot of users of this forum. The poll should look pretty cool if everyone votes...

    HTML, CSS and XML aren't scripting languages, by the way.
    Also, it's "PHP," not "PhP," and you really should have included Perl
    And if anyone votes for VBScript, they should be ashamed.

    I'm way behind...Perl can be used for the web? awsome. Do you have to install anything to get it to work? I use a computer i can't download things to (gov. prop.)

    Of course it can. Any command-line program can be set up as a CGI script. The only requirements are:
    1) it must be executable (on a *nix system this is accomplished for interpreted scripts by adding an interpreter directive to the top of the file, don't know how it would work on a Windows server)
    2) it must output a Content-Type: header. This is likely to be:
    - text/html for an HTML page
    - text/css for a dynamic CSS style
    - text/plain for plaintext
    - text/javascript for - strangely enough - Javascript
    - image/jpeg for an image.

    The Content-Type header is done by outputting "Content-Type: text/html" and then two newline characters (10 or \n) to mark the end of the headers. If you want to output more headers, you simply put them in before the \n\n, seperating the headers with a single \n.

    To use Perl as a CGI parser, all you have to do is install Perl and configure your http daemon. This depends on the server you use, and instructions for CGI can usually be found in its manual somewhere.

    The CGI script can then be used just like a dynamic page in PHP or ASP.

    /EDIT: I think Windows decides on its interpreter depending on the file extension. Could be wrong.

    shoot, i saw css after i voted html. well, those are the only two i know well enough to use, i can modify php well enough to make it work, but not write it. html is great, becuase it is very easy to learn, and there are thousands of tutorials as well as forums for people to learn.

    1. Why do all of you make sites, learn codes, write codes, etc...? fun? and for my game clan.
    2. How many of you actually have web-sites? me (more that one)
    3. How many are hiding them? me
    4. What is the most preferred language among all of us? css, html, php if you count having fun modifying forums.
