    Default Dual Monitor Setup Help

    Hey everyone,

I just bought a DVI to VGA adapter so that I can hook up a second monitor. Everything seems to be working fine except it is not displaying how I want it to. I want it so its like one big desktop where I can drag windows between the 2 screens. Right now they are just working like it is one monitor. I have googled so much on this and can't seem to get anything to work.

Any and all help is appreciated thanks!

Go to Start > Control Panel > Display > Settings. From there, press Identify. If a '2' pops up, click the gray box with a '1'. If a '1' pops up, click the gray box with a '2'. Now, check the 'Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor.'

NOTE: Most videocards with both DVI and VGA inputs do not allow you to send different signals to each. Try adding a second videocard and using it for one of the monitors.
