Exclamation Advanced RSS Ticker - CNN feed not updating

    1) Script Title: Advanced RSS Ticker (Ajax Invocation)

    2) Script URL (on DD): http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamici...ajax/index.htm

    3) Describe problem: I had a few people notice that my cnn feed was not updating anymore. I took a look and they were correct. I went to cnn and copied the top stories feed url (which was the same as I hadin place.) I then went in to my cache folder and deleted all feed caches, still with no luck. I then wanted to check if there was any updates to the script so i came back to DD to look and noticed that the CNN feed on the example site was also not updating. I suspect that CNN maybe changed something in their feed that is causing the problem? If anyone has a fix or a suggestion, your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hmm the CNN feed on the DD demo page appears current to me actually (Sept 12th news). Try disabling caching when invoking the script on your page, to verify it's not a cache issue:

    Code:
    new rssticker_ajax("BBC", 0, "ddbox", "bbcclass", 3500, "date+description")
That is, set the 2nd parameter to 0.

First of all thanks for the reply! I tried your suggestion of adding the 0 to the cache time setting, with no luck. Here is a link to my test page http://www.gtmc.net/RSS/test/demo.htm. I downloaded the script today and built this test fresh still with no luck. Maybe it will show updated to you? Right now i have the cachetime set to 0 and all it shows is that fetching error.

Hmm whatever you did, for the CNN ticker, it's now showing all the feed contents at once, which definitely an issue you'll want to fix somehow. Regarding the original date issue though, looking at the output for CNN, one of the entries is dated Sep 15, 2008 2:01:19 PM, which is fairly current.

I seem to be having the same problem on my intranet - the CNN RSS feed is from Wed Sept 10th and hasn't updated since then, even though I have turned off the caching. The other feeds I use are all updating everyday...

Looks like the pubDate for each of the feed items is Tue, 02 Sep 2008 for the CNN Top stories feed. I've switched over to the CNN US feed for now because it was last updated Sept 15

    FYI:
    You are not alone.
Apparently something is redirecting certain IP addresses that request the CNN feed from http://rss.cnn.com/rss/cnn_topstories.rss to http://feedproxy.feedburner.com/rss/cnn_topstories.rss

I put in a request at Feedburner support in case it's an issue on their end:

I've also got a post on a forum I frequent daily asking for advice:

If you come up with something, I'd be interested in finding out. Post a reply here so I can check it out.
