    I don't quite know why, but the page doesn't want to load all of the images (anywhere on the page) using Internet Explorer. When I can make the page fully load, so the script can start, I'll let you know.

    IE is choking on the flash, take that off, the page loads, the script runs. Hopefully, cr3 or someone will know how to fix the flash for IE.

    Ah, you've removed the flash now - can you post the code you were using to put the flash in there? There are a few variant ways of doing it.

    thanks a lot for your help...Clearly there is a kind of incompatibility between the flash file and the script....

    Hmm, okay, try replacing the flash code with this:
    Code:
    <OBJECT classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0"
     WIDTH="770" HEIGHT="120" id="headflash" ALIGN=""><PARAM NAME=movie VALUE="papi1.swf">
    <PARAM NAME=menu VALUE=false> <PARAM NAME=quality VALUE=high>
    <PARAM NAME=scale VALUE=exactfit> <PARAM NAME=bgcolor VALUE=#000000>
    <EMBED src="papi1.swf" menu=false quality=high scale=exactfit bgcolor=#000000  WIDTH="770" HEIGHT="120" NAME="yourfilename" ALIGN=""
     TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash" PLUGINSPAGE="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"></EMBED>

    Well, I tried that out here cr3, didn't seem to work. This is not exactly a conflict between the swf and the script in IE because removing the script from the page will not make the swf work in IE. The swf is incompatible with IE. This could have nothing to do with the way it is written into the page (object and embed tags). It could be, and I'm beginning to think it is, the way the swf itself is coded.

    OK, I figured it out. Either there is no:

    http://ice.d5.ub.es/forum-docencia/Common/papi1.swf

    or:

    http://ice.d5.ub.es/forum-docencia/Common/papi2_files/papi1.swf

    or it is invalid. When I changed the code to this:
    Code:
    <OBJECT CLASSID="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" CODEBASE="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=5,0,0,0"
    HEIGHT="120" WIDTH="770" ALIGN="">
    <PARAM NAME="movie" VALUE="http://ice.d5.ub.es/forum-docencia/Common/papi2_files/papi1.txt">
    <PARAM NAME="quality" VALUE="high">

    <embed src="http://ice.d5.ub.es/forum-docencia/Common/papi2_files/papi1.txt"
    quality="high"
    pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
    height="120" width="770"></embed>

    </object>
    for the flash, it and the script worked in both IE and in FF. The only real change was the path and name to the file used in the movie param's value. That and perhaps correcting the syntax a little.
