Google problem
I'd like to say hi to all other fellow site owners, as this is my first post on here even though I've used Dynamic for a few years now.
Ok, hope this post is in the right place with the problem of Google indexing my sub pages before my main home index page.
I have a main index page set as index.html with my company details and on the bottom (in small but not hidden font) all the local areas that I cover. My other pages like /quotes.htm and /contacts.htm also listed my local areas. Now in a Google search of my trade plus area (like html scripts London UK) it would list /quotes.htm and /contacts.htm over my main home index.html page.
I have set the priority on the sitemap.xml for the index to 1.0 (this is registered with the Google webmasters section) and the other pages to 0.5 but with no luck.
To combat this problem, I have removed the areas that I cover text on the bottom of my sub pages- to stop google putting them before my home index page, but I would like to put this text back again. so in a Google search it would show my main index with my sub pages below.
Can anyone help me with this problem?
Cheers,
The Newbie

If you want to add the links back, you can try adding the nofollow attribute and see if that helps.

Thank you for your post. The sub pages were not links, they only contained the same smaller text catchment work areas as my main page i.e. my website is for pat testing and on the bottom it has areas such as Farnborough, Aldershot, Camberley etc. So if you done a google search for pat testing Farnborough, it was bringing up my sub pages before my main homepage.
thanks,
Dave
