Content box ontop similar to drop-in content box
Drop-in content box
http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamici.../dropinbox.htm
Hi,
I've been looking for a cross-browser compatible method to display pages in a layer on top of a main page similar to the Drop-in Content box script, except instead of dropping in on page load, the window pops up when the user selects a link.
I have a menu of links on the left, and what I would like would be a box that appears to project a content box (containing an iframe pointing to a page of content) from the selected link to a position on top of the main page. I do not want a separate window, but rather a content box just like the drop-in content box script.
Is it possible to have a drop-in box that displays different pages depending on the link the user chooses? Perhaps what could be done would be to change the iframe in the content box to point to a programmable variable that changes the source depending upon the selection of a link on the main page, with a separate script to show the animation of the projection from the selected link to the box.
Some other questions I have are:
The drop-in content box does not display when I open the page. This is a good thing for me, but I would rather have turned off "drop-in on load" explicitly. How do you set up the script so it drops in only on the selection of the redo script, and not on load of the page?
Is there a way to round the corners of a content box?
Is it possible to turn off the bounce in the drop-in content box?
What browsers do iframes not work in?
Is there another cross-browser way to display another page in a content box other than an iframe link or an object (similar to Document-in-Document script http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamici...docsindocs.htm, which apparently does not work in NS)?
As an example, check out the About link on the main page at http://www.flyingscool.com (and let me know if the drop-in content box loads when you open the page). I would like most of the links to fill the drop-in box instead of bringing up a secondary page.
Thanks,
Thomas
