Static Slide Menu Questions

3) Describe problem:

Problem 1: In Firefox, the menu doesn't slide -- it's just extended and sits there. How can I fix this? It also moves from side to side when a mouse hovers over it.

Problem 2: I'd like to change the bar so the text is horizontal, not vertical. I'm not terribly familiar with javascript, so I've been unable to locate this bit of code. Can someone point this bit of code out to me so I can change this?
