Help with user account websites

I am looking for help with a website that allows user to create accounts and then add information to there accounts (like completing assignments). I have used Joomla a little bit but not sure if that is what I am looking for. If any one can help or can push me in the right direction on what to use that would be great. Thanks

I am looking for a system that allows user to login and update personal information about them. But the main thing is I already have a website and I would like to keep it and just ask the system into it if that is possible.
