Protect the image? What are you afraid will happen to it?

    Hello John,
I am developing Indian Paintings Site and because the artist more worries about there Paintings may be get Printed in other formats so I have to reduce the chances to copying the pictures.

There are other lightbox type scripts, slimbox is one - it displays the larger image as a background image. That would sort of fit the bill. Also, in either slimbox or lightbox, if you group your images they are placed behind mostly invisible navigation elements that would prevent direct copying via right click (some browsers allow saving backgrounds this way). However, no matter what you do, if it is on the web, it can be copied and printed. The ideal solution in my opinion is to not put up a print quality image in the first place. You can make some very nice large versions of images, say 700 x 500 and optimize them for the web (increasing the compression ration, which reduces the byte size and resolution). Optimization, if done right, results in an image that looks perfectly fine on the web, but that won't print out too well.

    Thank a lot for suggestion.

Yes I am doing the compression for all my pictures but still I would like to protect images because not all people are aware about loop holes of Copying images.
