Default fireworks: GRADIENT: white -to- full color photo

At http://www.nzrentalcar.co.nz/ the top image has two parts , the right hand part goes from white 1cm to full color photo(ani) 14cm, well how I do in fireworks the transition from white color to full color , is like a GRADIENT ???
Also if I have an image img1, and add above it an img2(same size), then if for img2 change opacity to 50% it will get seen the img1 above it ?

Post your images in question, and I will edit them to fade.

Huh? Oh, I see where you're going with this. the 'img2' on the page you specified is actually a 'hotspotted' part of the image itself.
