I'm new to this forum so I hope this is an appropriate question...

I would like to know how to go about modifying the script so as to pause the scrolling when the user mouseover's the container and have it resume on mouseout.

Sure, try the below modified contentslider.js, which adds pause onMouseover if the Slideshow is set to auto rotate.
