    Default Dns

    Sorry if I am in the wrong section, but I just had this question.

    If my server has a lot of downtime and the nameservers they gave me were:

    DNS1.host.com
    DNS2.host.com

    If I got a secondary nameserver

    DNS3.host2.com

    Would this go to host2 if host1 was down?

    Firstly, are you sure the downtime is DNS related, rather than just your server itself going down? Adding additional DNS servers does help if one of them don't respond, yes, though most downtimes with servers aren't due to DNS, but rather some problem with your server itself (ie: overloaded server, software issues etc).
