For some reason my speakers are not generating enough sound. As a result I cannot enjoy movies on my PC due to low sound.
Is there any software available (free would be nice) that would do an amplifying job for me?

Search for VLC media player. It'll play anything at 400%.

Tried that too, but i still get low sound

Then something is wrong with your system. I'd suggest getting a new sound card or having the hardware/drivers inspected. It shouldn't be THAT low.
