Yea, very possible.
You can use ajax and php. I can make the script if you want. xD

You can track way more than that. You could take Nile up on his over or use a freely available services such as Google Analytics and Piwik.

Mint is also an amazing commercially available option (well worth the $30, if you ask me).

These services might be more feature-rich that you might need -- but better to have more tools at your disposal than not enough.

I personally use a combo of all three for my clients.
