Default How can notes be added dynamically to photos?

How can notes or tags or hot areas be directly added by users
on to a photo like facebook or flickR eg http://flickr.com/photos/richard_am/116775447/ ?

There are tens of ways to do this, all dependent on how you plan to tag and manage this kind of functionality.

So, how do you plan to manage/store this information?

As an add-on to existing photogallery as in drupal or photopost etc - I do not mean "tag" but adding actual areas on photo itself with text visible on mouseover as shown in http://flickr.com/photos/richard_am/116775447/

Ahhh... I see. Sorry, I read tagging and my mind went to the "tags" as listed on Flickr.

If you want to the mouseovers on the images, the correct term you're looking for is photo annotations. I'm not trying to give you a semantics lesson...if you type photo annotations into Google, you'll get some pretty cool tools.

I've done something like this on one of my client sites very recently. I used a modified version of Photonotes, which is loosely based on Fotonotes.

Now, as far as tying this into your CMS -- no idea. I've never used/heard of Photopost. And Drupal...let's not go there *shudder*. I made mine with ExpressionEngine -- which I am in love with (as signified by my recent plugs of it recently).

hi Thanks a lot. That was REAL and USEFUL help!

[BTW, off-topic, one problem with expression engine is that you cannot have your users have groups or communities of their own]

True...it does have it's limitations right now, but I see that changing very rapidly. 2.0 will be so much more customizable as it's built on EllisLab's CodeIgniter framework.

But regardless, glad that those links helped you out. I'd love to see how it turns out...post back when it's done
