Default .gif movement in Microsoft Word?

I wasn't sure where to post this just because it doesn't fall under any categories

I was making a Newsletter for a certain group and I was asked if i could have some sort of animation in it.

I was making it through Microsoft word because they offer 3 different kinds of layouts ( http://www.mgsd.k12.wi.us/resources/...newsletter.htm ) the 3 layouts can be seen here

Now I was wondering if it is possible to insert some sort of animtion? I know you can copy and paste images and graphics, but what about animations? Or would I need to use Microsoft office. If the animations DO work, would it be possible to transfer it to a .pdf file and have it stil work?

Thank you ahead of time (Hope I didn't confuse you)

Yes, you can insert a gif image, but it will not be a moving image
If your gif images has a multiple images, only the first image will be viewed, the same thing applies to pdf files.

I'm not sure about the intricacies of the .doc format, but I'm quite certain that .pdf just doesn't allow animation-- not how it was designed.
