Default FF displays animated gifs still

When i look at animated gifs in firefox, either in a webpage, or by itself, it only displays the first frame as a still image. Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

Hitting the Esc key will cause this in FF. It may also be available as a configuration option in that browser - turning off animated images. The standards for animated gif's are erratic as well, so (in addition to what I've already mentioned for FF) this may be a problem for certain animated .gif's in certain browsers.
