    Default multiple window ftp program?

Sorry. I couldn't figure out the best way to title this question.

I was searching through the forum looking for some info on FTP programs. I really like the one I am using right now because it can open any number of windows to view any ol file. The problem is that the author is no longer keeping up with the program and it only works in IE. It is called cjgexplorerpro for anyone that is curious.

I have been playing around with Filezilla and I was going to ask some questions about it, but I think the real question is: what is a good (or mediocre) ftp program that can open multiple windows at once for viewing multiple and duplicate files.

In KDE, the whole system supports FTP URLs as if they were local paths via ioslaves. I think Windows Explorer does the same.

If you prefer FireFox, look into FireFTP, I just installed it and tried it out for a couple of things. So I haven't fully tested it yet, but It works well so far.

I myself am a FileZilla junkie and can't do anything without using it about 12 times a day.

thanks. I am using windows and it does not look like KDE is a windows type of program. I am new to Filezilla and just started using it today. Is there a way to open multiple notepads at one for viewing and editing files? is there a way to set it up to open files with extension php5? I tried looking around online for the answers, but have not had much luck.

KDE is a Linux OS GUI, like Windows' explorer.exe It is just the graphical representation of the OS.

As for filezilla, you can set everything up in the settings tabs.

Start with Edit>>Settings and go down the list, item by item. You can set the default program to view/edit files with (I use notepad++) and many other options (a lot of which you shouldn't have to change)

Then go to File>>Settings Manager and set up your FTP sites. You can add as many as you want and make one of them default.

When you are connected to view/edit a file right click on it and choose View/Edit. That easy. When you are done editing, close it, it will ask to save, say yes, it will ask to reupload, say yes, done.

KDE is a complete desktop environment, including a suite of applications. It runs on any GNU-compatible OS with X (including Windows/Cygwin), not just Linux.

GNOME is theoretically the same, but I don't think I've heard of it running on anything else. Probably possible though.
