asp external links hits

Hi, Could anyone point me in the right direction.
I am looking for some asp code to write to a field in my database the number of hits that my external links get. Have looked around a lot and cannot find anything.

The link should point to a page on your site;
On that page, add one "click" to the database (basic database operation, once setup);
Then just redirect the user, and display a manual link backup in case that fails.

Sorry this isn't more specific, but I use PHP, not ASP, and few of us here really know ASP well. However, the above method should help.
