select box with images and css?

hi,
i saw a few type of self built systems to replace a select box with something like an iframe of dthml.

example use case:
i want an multiple select box with persons, i want their name and their picture displayed, if one selected it saves a value somewhere....

any ideas?

If you are intending on saving something for "permanent" storage then you would need to use a database. If you would not need to obtain the information again then you can use an array.

I would suggest using a Database (sql, MySQL,Oracle) which would require a server-side language ( php/ruby/asp )

I am going to assume that you are a beginner in coding, so I would suggest MySQL and PHP as both are fairly easy to learn.

that the data comes out of a database is clear!
but would need some example scripts...

i have very good php skills and done a lot of sites on different frameworks.
