    Default Loading thumbnail Viewer

    http://www.chefsfirst.com/product_im...portfolio.html

    Does anyone know why everytime I load my page (F5), this text "CLOSE X Loading Image" appears on the lefthand corner of the page before everything else? It's quite annoying and not professional to me. How do I fix that?

    I don't see this problem when I refresh the source page: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex4/thumbnail.htm

    Why?? Any help is appreciated. Thank you!!

    I just tried your link and it seemed to work fine. The "close X" appeared at the same time as the images, after the "Loading" text.

    I used WinXP IE7 and FF2, with broadband internet access.

    "Close X Image Loading" text is located at the upper left hand corner of the webpage before and during loading, not in the center right before the image pops.

    I am using braodband internet access too, how come I see it?!

    Thanks for checking Mike!

    When I check it comes up in the bottom right corner, immediately with the image appearing.

    What browser are you using? I'm not sure if you already tried this but clearing the cache, deleting your history, cookies etc... sometimes does the trick.

    Other than that I wouldn't know what to tell you since it works fine on my side...

    Hmm... strange... I use IE 7, tested in FireFox, Safari and Opera. I also tried to delete history, cookies and all... Maybe my network is way too slow?? It's OK. I will live with it for now.

    My guess is in thumbnailviewer.js since "CLOSE X" and "Loading Image..." are loaded from there. Perhaps the author make these 2 load first before everything else. And if the user has slow internet connection, he/she will see it before the page fully loaded. What I don't understand is with the same internet speed I have, I don't see it on Dynamic site... Oh well... Thank you again!!

    Your page is in violation of Dynamic Drive's usage terms, which, among other things, state that the script credit must appear in the source code of the page(s) using the script. Please reinstate the notice first.

    That said, the problem could well be that you are loading the style after the script (from your source code):

    Code:
    <script type="text/javascript" src="Javascript/thumbnailviewer.js"></script>
    <link href="CSS/thumbnailviewer.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    Instead of the other way around as recommended on the demo page:

    Code:
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="thumbnailviewer.css" type="text/css" />

    <script src="thumbnailviewer.js" type="text/javascript">

    /***********************************************
    * Image Thumbnail Viewer Script- Dynamic Drive (www.dynamicdrive.com)
    * This notice must stay intact for legal use.
    * Visit http://www.dynamicdrive.com/ for full source code
    ***********************************************/

    </script>
    The way you have it, the markup you are seeing could be visible for a brief moment until the stylesheet loads and set's its visibility:hidden.
