Deactivate the background and highlight popup

Hi there,

i have been looking for stuff where i can open up a popup box which can have form fields or any user interaction stuff that users have to do before proceeding to next step of registration....

what i would like to do is when the popup opens, users can act only on the popup rest of the background will be of opacity affect (say 20%) and users cannot do any thing on the backgound bcos the pop is open.

To give a better example you can view "http://www.aa.co.nz/motoring/Pages/FormsTest.aspx'..

I realise this has error message in the div/popup but i would like to have form fields..

any ideas .....i have no idea how to do this..

any help would be much appreciated...
