    Question Mozilla Question

    Hi.

I just had a friend open a website in Mozilla and he said that if he is clicking on a link which opens a PDF file and then closes the PDF in the browser the whole site is gone.
The links are configured as target: _blank
If I do the same in IE and open the link then a new Window opens with the PDF and when I close this PDF the page with the link on it is still present.
Please give me some advise on how to do the links that they work in all the browsers the same.

    Thanks in advance,
    Tommy

Get Mozilla if you don't already have it and play around with it to see what exactly is happening.

One thing I will say is that Mozilla based (and other) browsers can be configured to ignore or redirect (to a tab or to the same tab/window) the target attribute. Anyone who uses a browser configured like that on a regular basis knows what will happen and conducts themselves accordingly.

You cannot control user configuration. My approach is to make it so that the average user will have a good experience, and that the others can figure it out if they have a unique configuration. At the same time, I try to do everything I can to provide a fall back experience that will be negotiable by any user.

    Hi John,

    thanks for clearing that up.
So it looks like that if someone got his browser configured by mistake like in the case of my friend nothing can be done about it.
At 1st I thought it was a mistake I did.

    Thanks again,
    Tommy
