    Question refresh rate

every time i set my refresh rate to 60 it always goes back to 59. i dont know what causes it. i turned it to 60, restart computer, then its still at 60, but at random when i check it is at 59. there are only two options for my lappy, 50 and 60. why wont it stay at 60?

Very strange. Is it just running at 59 because it can't keep up, or is it actually set to 59? Doesn't make any sense to me.

1 isn't going to make a difference anyway.

As I said, one's not going to make a difference.

I dunno. Why do you need to change it anyway?

    I think LCDs can.

Changing the refresh rate is subtle, but can make a big difference.

It will seem smoother if higher, but can also give some people headaches, or get laggy/extra sharp if the computer can't keep up.

1 isn't really going to matter.... sorta.
You probably won't see much of a difference, though I find that to be really odd. Maybe your monitor can't handle more than that, though that's also very weird.

However, the downside is matching the framerate of things you are playing. If you watch a video at 30 frames per second (as most things on the internet are, or in some cases 15, which divides into 60 as well), then you may get a weird effect. I doubt it would be severe, but the computer would be trying to display 30 frames every 59 refreshes (consider a framerate (frames per second) to be hertz for a video), then it will either skip frames every once in a while, or blend them to get it to match.
You could get something as bad as the effect of filming a computer monitor with a video camera, that runs at a different refresh rate, though that's unlikely.
