could anyone show me how to make this menu scroll up and down instead of horizontally?

What would be nice is if the controls could be somewhere and the scrolling menu somewhere else. Basically I want to have this scrolling menu to act like a small display screen (like on a pocket computer) and the navigation buttons are the scroll up and down controls on this pocket computer.
