seriously, it worked fine until I plugged in the external drive... as I said on MSFN.

it could still very well be the problem when you plugged in the external drive, vista probly did something i shouldnt have and caused a problem.

First of all, don't put !!!!! constantly. People won't answer.
In order to be good at computers, you need to calm down. Even if half of your components are on fire, you don't go and run around and scream.

I reinstalled all USB and CD drive drivers and unplugged the external drive, checked that the CD drives were properly seated in the motherboard and restarted the computer and disabled and reenabled all USB devices.

First of all, don't put !!!!! constantly. People won't answer.

Hmm... this is making me feel like I'm in virtual court...
I assumed completely the opposite, as I have been having this problem for weeks now, and I was planning to burn several CDs yesterday. And if nobody will respond, then why did someone? I've replaced them with a period, however, not removed your notice, as I assume that would get me in bigger trouble. I will stay off the forums (mostly) until September 1st. Please let me live this time.

How many infractions to a ban again? Do expired ones count? What's that "non descriptive or meaningless title" one?

Unless they're all your hard drives with all your work for the past 5 years and you don't have a backup. Luckily, I make a backup every other day at 5 PM.

Lain is probably correct, i've read up on Vista's DRM and Remember that it is supposed to freak out when new hardware is attached, lest it be used for pirating protected content.

It's kindof sad that that is the only substantial difference between the XP and vista kernels, after 6 years of work.

As for any type of protest about infractions, stop posting repeated stupid stuff. We've given you plenty of warnings. You should know better. It's not like you are incapable of choosing to act mature.
