    Default Final Touches Questions Hints...

Ok, So heres the deal... I've tested out for about a month. I'm getting ready to put my site online. I've been using freewebs and Bravenet as a place just to put the site out there and seeing if I can get a couple of visitors. I'm ready to upgrade and start to use my own servers *which I plan to buy*.

I'm looking for a couple of things and got a couple of questions:
    Looking for:
A way to earn money from advertising to pay for my own domain name.
To get my own domain name and so I can use my own server at my home *when I get one* Smilies
    Questions:
    1. Usually do ads provide enough income to aleast pay for 90% of the cost to run the site? Like pay for the domain name probably put my site into google's search engine. stuff like that.
    2. Is there a difference between using Freeweb's Domains and Bravenets Domains, like cost and server stuff.
    3. Is it a plug in and play *I buy the domain name tell what server to use and then say create?* or is it full of complicated databases and other stuff...
    4. Are there any good tutorials/books on putting up your website... not making it

    Read this before you respond!
Ok, when I get a server that can run without my computer beside it i will get my site its own name... I am working getting the site uploaded onto freewebs. I will post a link soon...

    Thanks to all

It depends on the traffic density on the site, and of course the number of actual clicks you get on the advertisements.

They're both very poor cost-wise. You can get much better deals. Bravenet are also very poor for support and reliability, in my experience.
    3. Is it a plug in and play *I buy the domain name tell what server to use and then say create?* or is it full of complicated databases and other stuff...
"Complicated databases?" Read up on DNS before you get started, and you shouldn't have too many problems.

So, what hosting service should I use when I want to get my domain name inorder to get my site up as quick as possible. Because a while back I pay $40 over 2 months on a domain name from freewebs and well, I never got my site uploaded, I contacted tech support and they said it took 3-6 months unless i registered to be a member before the purchase of the domain name. I canceled the domain name payment and I was furious because I spent $40. I wanna try and avoid this as much as possible.

$40?! For two months?! I pay £5 (around $10, I think, currently) for a year at Telivo. I'd expect hosting too for that price -- and rather superior hosting at that!

If you want a spot to look for advertisers... I encountered this site while making a partnership with a credit reporting website.

    http://www.cj.com/

They have stats on each advertiser, and you can see what the average paid to you per 100 clicks is. I think most, if not all are commission based links, where you get paid if they sell the product, and not paid per click

Err... Are you sure? The plans look more than 5 pounds to me.

.co.uk domains are only £5. Also, I made an error: it's actually two years, not one.
