    Default question about moderators

Moderators are people that are very skilled and helpful on the forums for figuring out problems for many coders at various levels of programing expertise. I was wondering do you do it mostly for fun or as a job or to stay on your toes about some of the latest scripting tricks?

I enjoy it, but as a casual website coder I do it as a hobby and can often find some of the coding problems very tricky and will pour over a bit of code for hours on end. Sometimes I will wake up in the middle of the night with what I think is a solution to one of my coding problems and head over to my website to see if an idea works. When I look at some of the questions that you are asked it looks to me like you have many frustrating puzzles to figure out. I like puzzles but I think that many puzzles would get to me after a while.

    So! what's your motivation?

I'm moving this to the lounge, since it's just a discussion, not an "other" question related to web design.

Nothing fancy for me. I spent a lot of time here before becoming a moderator, and ddadmin decided he wouldn't mind an extra few hands helping to clear up spam, etc. I'm happy to help out when I stop by.

I think I can speak for most (if not all of the moderators) by saying that we just enjoy this. I've certainly learned a lot (and had a place to ask questions), too.

And remember, the main difference in being a Mod is just that we delete spam, clean up the board a bit (moving threads to the right place, editing as needed, etc.). In terms of posting, it's just a coincidence (though not unexpected) that we also post a lot. I suppose it's related to the fact that we're here enough to monitor spam and we've been here regularly long enough that ddadmin knows us well.
