Default Prompt to Save PDF instead of open in browser

Is there something that we can put in the <a href="..> for a PDF document that will prompt users to Save the document instead of opening it in the browser?

Because people usually automatically click on the pdf link to view/download, but for big PDF, downloading it first is sometimes better.
    Thanks!

It's already downloaded when it's viewed. The browser or plugin will save it to a temporary location.

This is not possible to do entirely effectively. You can try sending the PDF with an unknown Content-Type to make the browser think it's something else, but really, it's down to the user's configuration.
