windows vista home basic

i have windows vista home basic, and i ran the upgrade advisor and it said my computer is best suited for premium.

the only thing i want is the windows 3d flip, my computer already has the glass affect.

i looked online for hours and found ways to enable aero that seemed to work for others but not me.

anyone know how to enable windows flip 3d for windows home basic? i tried changing the registry files but it didnt work... my computer can handle the 3d flip.

also i have this dvd that apparently has every version of vista on it, but i have to enter a code to use it. does that mean its possible to get the premium os off of the dvd i have without a code? i mean, it IS on the dvd... why they call it a dvd i have no idea...

upgrade advisor? WOW talk about a bunch of sand bagging people. You only NEED what you want, and about 10% of what comes on the Windows OS default installation is absolute crap. The "upgrade advisory" wants you to get premium because of your system specs. I have a feeling that anyone that can support the premium will get that message.

DVD has a higher disk storage capacity, and yes it is probably entirely possible that they have every "option" of Vista on the disk. What probably happens is that your serial code is what tells the disk what to and what not to install... eg its permissions.

3d flip is available with beryl, and not shelling out any more money.

Hi Tech Support,

I am intrigued at your revelation that upgrading from Vista home basic to Premium would only cost $15! Even were the dollar & pound on a par, I would snap up that offer! Could you please tell me where I can get this upgrade from? On Microsoft's site it costs around $79 to upgrade - a big difference.

The problem I have with Vista winmail is that it randomly stops working, with a Visual C++ runtime error flagged up, advising me to seek help from the faceless ones who spawned it (my words, not their's!). Hah!! Sardonic laugh... 'Sofware support'? An oxymoron, if ever. A change of name to 'Pontius Pilate Software, corporate logo - a large handwashing bowl, might be more appropriate.

Anyway, after I acknowledge the error message, winmail shuts down and has to be reloaded again, resulting in manual hair loss when trying to remember exactly what I was saying in a long email, before it died.

Visiting various forums/help areas leads me to conclude that no-one really has a clue as to the exact problem. So-called Registry Restorers, claiming to fix the computer eqivalent from Bubonic Plague to the common cold, didn't do the job for me, so I am wondering if anyone else has had the same experience (only Winmail, please), and how they fixed it.

I am running Vista basix 32 bit and i's only 3 months old. It's a shame the designers didn't pay more attention to it's aerodynamics, otherwise I would just try and see if could break the unmanned flight record!
