Default Vertical Conveyor Belt Slideshow freaking out in Firefox with overflow set to auto

    1) Script Title: Vertical Pausing Slideshow - freely adapted from:
Cross browser Marquee II- © Dynamic Drive (www.dynamicdrive.com)
Modified by jscheuer1 for continuous content slideshow. Credit MUST stay intact for use

    2) Script URL (on DD): Modified DD script

    3) Describe problem: View this URL in Firefox (on Windows)http://www.getinkpr.com/new_page_published2.asp

IE looks fine, Firefox totally freaks out when overflow property is set to auto. Do you see any way to get around this?

    Thank you
    Carrie

Thank you for quick reply. That script looks much more compact and easier to implement.
I will give it a try with images.
    Thanks again.

Your demo page looks fine here in FF. That script was tested in FF BTW. I do have a better vertical scroller though that I've been working on. Let me know if you are interested. I don't think iframe will validate with your DOCTYPE.

Here's a demo of the new script:

Thank you. I thought I ran across instructions for how to validate that one though.
What happens if page won't validate? Will it not run in some browsers?
Ok, and what is FF BTW?

Where? I don't think you can validate iframe with that DOCTYPE no matter what you do, unless you write the iframe to the page using javascript, but that will not fool a browser, only a validator.

    It might not.

    jscheuer,

FF v1.0.7 did not like the script running with the overflow property set to scroll (on another element - I might add). The whole section with the scroll on it continued to flicker while the slideshow was running. The link I posted probably does not have the slideshow on it now.

We can't diagnose a problem we don't see. Also, if the problem arose due to your markup, in fact markup not directly related to the script, there may be a way around that problem.

I still prefer my new script, mentioned earlier, for vertical scrolling.

But, as you seem unconcerned about validation, and I admit it isn't the be all and end all of web presentation, it may well be easier to use the iframe scroller. Whatever you decide, it's your project. Go for it!

I am interested in the one in the center scrolling down with the 3 photos.

I opened up the code and could not figure out how to eliminate the other 2.

    Please let me know.
