    if JasperReports is for Java, what is the PHP counterpart of this? tnx.

    As far as I know, there isn't one.

    PHP is a quick-and-dirty language, really. I don't think there'd be much market for it. PHP has a templating language, Smarty, to help one write code that separates logic from presentation, but I don't know anyone who uses it.
