MP3 player

does anyone know of a mp3 player or something portable that has a usb connection that can play mp3's off of lets say an external harddrive?

and iPod any many other things play off of their own harddrive, which is external from a computer.
But you are asking specifically about a player that will access an external harddrive from it?
First, would it be a portable harddrive, unpowered? I doubt many mp3 players have a powered usb port. Second, if not, then why the need? Just use your computer.

I'm not really sure on this one. It's an interesting thought, though.

Perhaps some sort of PDA, etc. would be able to do so.

Well i have the Smartdisk photochute . It 20 GB and it has a lithum-ion battery that can be charged. So i was just wondering... The closest thing would probally be a UMPC.
