is there a way to script windows media player in FF and IE and opera

I found many scripts claming that they are cross-browser but they throw errors or were made too many years ago to work now.

If you wanted to make buttons with the forum input tag to pause,stop,rewind, and change the volume of a embeded player; what would you do?
